WEEK 3 the comic strip (4 points)

This week We read the Smithsonian collection of comics. These comics were very different to what I was used to read. there was many different subjects that were exposed and represented in a very unique way. these comics help me understand a wider representation of the society at that time. the vision in matters of roles and races where really different to what we have in the modern society. is difficult to be specific about this week reading because the comics were very short and also threading many different subjects at the same time. it was sincerely interesting and very eyes opening on the how much potential comics have to tell a story of deal with a specific subject, and how influential can be to our society. there was definitely an era of experimentation where the limits of the comics stand. this time was very important to explore what was going to be the reaction of society with comics and how intense was going to be their influence on people of all ages and ethnicities.

from this point I feel the most important part of the assignment was to understand these pieces as art and do not get carry away with our bias pre conceptions of society. it was an exercise of practicing and applying rational thinking that will lead us into a better understanding of the importance of art elements like this in society and human history.
