This week we had the chance to explore the world of motion comics and webcomics. this is a subject that has become more and more popular recently and has grown immensely in the past couple of years. there is definitely a necessity for finding new and exciting stories coming from different sources than the mainstream media. mostly because those places have been already heavily influenced by the social justice warriors or the family-friendly mafia. when big companies like Disney or DreamWorks etc get involved is very difficult to have creative freedom and these spaces online are definitely ways that we can embrace that type of freedom to create interesting and meaningful stories. this week I had the chance to read the octopus pie collection. it was a very interesting experience. the drawing style is very much a hybrid that reminds me of the art of Bryan lee O'Malley in the Scott pilgrim comics with the Simpsons style of expressions and forms. there are many interesting aspects of h

In this week's assignment, we visited the topic of women making comics. as many traits created by humans before being a comic artist wasn't something that was easy for women. it was a world ruled mostly by men who were very close minded even jealous at some point to let women participate in art. this week I chose to read the 7 issues of the lumberjanes, it is interesting to know I bought one of these comic books in one of my visits to Barnes and Noble because I felt attracted to the comic cover. I never really finished because I stopped at probably the 4 pages finding the dialogues very annoying and difficult to get interested in. it wasn't before this class that I actually committed to read all of them and develop an honest opinion about this type of representation of woman in comics. I have to say that my opinion about this specific comic is that I completely and utterly hate it. is one of the worst representations I ever seen of how to develop characters and deliver a g

This week's assignment was to visit the graphic literature. this subject for me was confusing at a first point because I was associating the term with graphic novels. but during the reading, I encountered that these two things are very similar and very different in matters of depth. graphic literature is when the graphic novel became an icon of the literature and carry way more relevance to the genre than just being part of an independent graphic novel. it can be said that the titles we read this week were almost a must for anyone who likes literature for anyone who likes comics. I choose to read the sandman by Neil Gaiman. this piece of literature was a very interesting one to me, it treats one of my favorite subjects of the human mind and gives us a very interesting introspective view of the dreamworld and the entities that ruled this fantastic world. I dead two volumes of this series, volume number one preludes and nocturnes and volume 2 the doll's house. in one we have the

This is another subject that I love and played a big part in my artistic influence. Manga played a huge role in what inspired me to start my drawings at an early age. this was because of the limitation we have in maters of tv show back in my country. the most viewed and transmitted shows for kids were somehow the ones replayed in japan like Saint Seiya, captain Tsubasa, pokemon, Digimon, dragon ball z, and many others. this week we had the chance to read the world-famous Osamu Tezuka, a person who not only changed the comic books (manga) in japan forever but also it was the person who began with one of his most famous stories (Astroboy) the world of animation. the work I choose to read was Phoenix volume one and volume 2. in this comic we were able to see the classic Osamu Tezuka style of drawing and storytelling, but at the same time, we were able to see his early beginnings. phoenix is a very strange story but also it contains all the strong elements you can expect from the manga. f

this week we had the amazing chance to visit the euro comics and analyze the work of one of my favorite artist of all time, Moebius was the artist the implemented in my opinion in the best way possible at the time a unique style of fantasy and futuristic atmosphere never seen before. when I was growing up I took many of his artwork as inspiration to go beyond the normal standards in my artistic career. Moebius open a door I never seen opened by anyone before. his work transports us to surreal realms where the unexpected is always the main focal point. the quality of the art is just splendid and the sense of atmosphere is let the viewer immerse themself in his stories in a very majestic way. this week I took time to read more than one of his pieces. of them being the goodness and the garden of aedena , one giving us a feeling that reminds me of the album cover of dragon force (an epic metal band) fused with Arabic tones and majestic figures from different planets. and the other one giv

In this week's assignment, we visited the Non-fiction comics. this is genera of comics that came to tell a different side of the story. this type of comics is taking advantage of the visual possibilities of comics to tell a story in a way more appealing way. mostly this type of comics come as historical events that were written down first and then they were transformed in a more visual way making use of the panels that comics provide. also, they can be used as biographical forms of storytelling. one example of this is this week's main story "KING" we will be visiting the life of Martin Luther King jr and the many points that built him as a very influential figure that changed the story. my experience reading king was a little bit different from what I expected. I think one of the main appealings of the comics is the right usage of the graphics to tell a story, and in this case, I felt the comic came out short in visuals or skill of the artist to make it interesting e
